The Comprehensive Clinical Assessment is an initial step in the system of care, is individualized, family-centered and culturally sensitive. The needs of the family and the strengths of the individual determine the types and mix of services recommended. The individual's physical, emotional, educational, recreational, and developmental needs are reviewed as part of this evaluation.
Our Licensed Clinicians conduct clinical interviews with individuals and family members in order to establish medical necessity for services and to make recommendations for the appropriate level of care for each individual referred. Information about previous therapy, medications, and behaviors in other settings is obtained prior and during the initial evaluation process. At the end of the intial evaluation process, the clinican meets with both the individual and if necessary, the caregiver to provide information about the diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Families are full participants in all aspects of the planning and subsequent delivery of services that are individualized to achieve a positive outcome for the indiviual and the family in the least restrictive environment.
Outpatient Therapy provides therapeutic interventions to individuals of various ages in need of mental health care and resources. Outpatient services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. These services may include individual, child, adolescent, marriage and family counseling. Outpatient therapy is not intended for individuals who require a higher level of care such as behavioral health rehabilitation services, hospitalization or residential care.
Outpatient therapy takes place in the office or home setting and provides assessment, treatment and mental health referrals. Also provided is follow up support to individuals just graduating from more intensive services. Outpatient services are best suited for individuals who are committed to treatment as it relies on the individual's dedication and willingness to work on and overcome the challenges of their day-to-day lives.
Our approach to therapy emphasizes building a trusting relationship with a therapist who can help you develop the understanding and skills needed to create lasting positive changes in your life. We believe that recognizing your unique gifts and strengths is fundamental to the treatment process. We will work with you to individualize a plan of treatment to meet your needs and goals.
Family therapy is best described as therapy that focuses on the growth of a family based on each member's needs, or in the family's response to an individual member's needs. Family therapy can be helpful in addressing family changes, concerns affecting the family as a whole, as well as conflict and communication difficulties among family members. Such services may include adjustment to separation/divorce, coping with loss, behavioral and conduct problems, coping with a medical illness, effective parenting strategies, or responding to a family member's needs. These services involve all the members of a family. Family therapy sessions can also be incorporated into individual therapy work when appropriate.
Play Therapy has been clinically proven to address emotional and behavioral issues of children. It encourages an open and voluntary communication, reducing stress and building trust. Children learn to regulate their emotions as their self-esteem is elevated. This open comminication fosters learning while promoting acceptable behavior and creative problem-solving. This type of therapy is natural and less threatening for children, since play is a natural form of expression for them.
Play therapy is to children what talk therapy is to adults. Play is the child's way of communicating just as talking is the adult's natural way of communicating. Toys are used like words and play is the child's language. Children are provided toys in play therapy to enable them to say with the toys what they have difficulty saying with words.
These services are defined as an array of community based services designed to help stabilize, maintain and strengthen the functioning level of seriously emotionally disturbed individuals and their families.
